Get a desktop browsing experience with the Android User Agent setting

For Android ICS Google tweaked the built-in browser so it could “request” the desktop version of a website,if you were being given the but-down mobile site. Despite this it doesn’t always work correctly but there is a more advanced way to force this desktop experience. With the Android browser open select Menu > Settings > Advanced > User Agent*.

The User Agent is a setting that your browser sends to the website telling it what type of device it is, under most circumstances it’s best to let it know it’s an Android tablet so the site can be adjusted to work correctly. If however you want the full website then choose Desktop, while the iPad and Froyo will provide the Apple-optimised site and one designed for Android 2.2.

*Due to the open nature of Android certain manufacturers may remove or alter default settings.
